The Automotive X Prize is a contest sponsored by Progressive insurance to find the most fuel efficient vehicle in the world. The contest, according to their competition guidelines, seeks to "inspire a new generation of super-efficient vehicles that help break America's addiction to oil and stem the effects of climate change" and this year they announced the winner, the Edison2. The Edison2 utilizes a combustion engine coupled with precise aerodynamics and a very light weight to achieve a MPG equivalent of 102.5. That's pretty good. Is it worth the 5 million prize money? Sure.
