Board track racing was a popular spectacle during the 1920s and 30s. Races were mostly between "motorcycles" which were no more than suped up bicycles with an engine strapped on. Eventually falling out of favor because of the high cost of maintaining the wooden surface and the perceived danger of the races, board track racing continued to influence motorsport far beyond it's short life.
